CINCINNATI, OH – Summermusik in partnership with Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle (NC), and Reno Chamber Orchestra are pleased to announce Simon Rivet as the winner of the second annual Kreitler Commission Competition. Simon was chosen from a pool of 296 applicants from 26 countries through a blind selection process based solely on the merit of two submitted work samples. He will now begin composing a new work for chamber orchestra with a world premiere by Summermusik in August 2026 with subsequent performances by partner orchestras throughout the 2026-2027 season. Simon also will receive a $10,000 grand prize. Composers Geoffrey Gordon and Mary Kouyoumdjian were designated as the 1st and 2nd runner-up.
