The program is a further exposure to Cuba’s rich musical heritage made famous worldwide by musicians like Sandoval, Dizzy Gillespie, Mario Bauza, Machito, or Chico O’Farrill, and ensembles such as Orquesta Aragón, Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna (later re-named Irakere), Los Van Van, and the Buena Vista Social Club. Incidentally, you can enjoy the latter on Tuesday at the Esquire Theater in Clifton.

About the Sound Body Jazz Orchestra
The Sound Body Jazz Orchestra, an 18-piece ensemble, has been playing great jazz-influenced popular music in and around Cincinnati for 30 Years. The band celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2012 by producing a new full-length CD, entitled “Tonight We Dance!” The 2012 CD contains tunes from the books of the Count Basie Orchestra, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and Earth, Wind, and Fire.
Sound Body Jazz Orchestra was formed in 1992 as a collaboration of alumni of Roger Bacon High School’s band. Following in the tradition of the famous jazz orchestras of the 1930’s and 40’s (commonly known as “Big Bands”), Sound Body plays an eclectic mix of styles: from classic swing to hard-driving Latin, to lush ballads. What makes this ensemble unique is the addition of contemporary jazz and fusion tunes to their repertoire.
Over the past 30 years, the band has played for a variety of community park concerts, dances, and private parties. For seven years, the band was featured at the Cincinnati Arts Association’s popular “Dancing For The Stars” event at the Music Hall Ballroom–the same room that hosted many dances in the hey day of the touring big bands.
