10-time Grammy Award winner Arturo Sandoval and your CCO introduce you to Cuba’s rich, colorful musical traditions that evolved out of the island’s mixture of indigenous peoples, Spanish settlers, and African slaves.

You will experience a small sample of this rich musical and cultural history, which has seen very few opportunities to be shared with the rest of the world since the late 1950s. Works by Cuban composers Tania León (recipient of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Music and the 2022 Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award from Kennedy Center Honors), Ernesto Lecuona, and Sandoval are augmented with works by George Gershwin, Silvestre Revueltas, and Joaquín Rodrigo.
