Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra Presents John Kreitler’s Second Symphony, “The Voices of God”

Summermusik is proud to present John Kreitler’s Symphony No. 2 “The Voices of God”, commissioned to celebrate the organization’s 50th anniversary season. John Kreitler, a 10-time Emmy-winning composer, died from cancer earlier this year, two weeks after completing the commission. The symphony emerged from collaborating with poet Rev. Elaine Hewes, who will join Summermusik Music Director Eckart Preu for a pre-performance talk. As a Summermusik board member, Kreitler initiated a new commission competition, the winner of which will write a new work to be premiered by Summermusik. The competition was recently renamed in his honor: The Kreitler Commission Competition. Gifts to the John Henry Kreitler Memorial Fund help fund the competition for future years.
